This course will examine the pathophysiology of sexual dysfunction to understand why it occurs in patients with Parkinson’s and assess modifiable factors that can be affecting this non-motor symptom to employ appropriate treatments.

Target Audience
This course is for movement disorder specialists, neurologists, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with a movement or related disorder.
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Recognize the sexual health related issues PD patients may experience
- Identify biases/beliefs regarding sexual functioning in PD patients
- Employ routine sexual health and sexual dysfunction screening for PD patients
- Analyze the pathophysiology of sexual dysfunction and how it is related to PD
- Detect modifiable factors that maybe be affecting healthy sexual function in PD patients
- Treat sexual dysfunction appropriately in patients with PD

Alexis Santangelo, AGNP-C is a Nurse Practitioner who obtained her BSN and MSN from The University of Akron. She has a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry and neurology since 2017. She worked for 4 years at UT Health San Antonio seeing movement disorder patients in clinic and in a research setting. She is currently working at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Movement Disorders Center. She is skilled in procedures that include deep brain stimulation, baclofen pumps and injections.
