Accredited Continuing Medical Education AMDAPP Regional Education: Movement Disorders Bootcamp - Cleveland

AMDAPP Regional Education: Movement Disorders Bootcamp - Cleveland

Short name: AMDAPP Cleveland
Course start date: 04-10-2026
In-person Accredited CME / AMDAPP Regional

Description

This activity is jointly provided by Parkinson & Movement Disorder Alliance (PMD Alliance) and The Association of Movement Disorder Advanced Practice Providers (AMDAPP).

Movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, are increasingly encountered across neurology, primary care, and geriatric settings, yet early recognition, accurate differentiation, and optimal management are not consistently performed. Parkinson’s disease is the fastest-growing neurological disorder globally, creating rising demand for clinicians skilled in diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, access to movement disorder specialists remains limited, with many patients managed by non-specialists. These gaps can contribute to delayed diagnosis, misinterpretation of treatment response (e.g., levodopa nonresponse), and missed opportunities for advanced therapies such as deep brain stimulation or infusion therapies.

APPs need additional education and training to effectively diagnose and manage movement disorders. Limited movement-disorder content in APP training, combined with the rapid growth of Parkinson’s disease and a shortage of specialists, requires APPs across neurology, primary care, and geriatrics to develop greater competency in screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

Estimated time to complete activity: 15 minutes
